The RCNA meets in Chamblee, GA which has a lot of small businesses. Chamblee hosts a few other service and civics organizations such as the Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Chamblee Chamber of Commerce (CCC).
Initially there were two RCNA members who were also members of the CCC.
At our very first 2014 RCNA meeting, CCC President Art Freeman visited our club and presented us with a check for $1000, for a Paul Harris Fellowship. Remarkably, Freeman had never been to a Rotary club meeting before.
During the early fall of 2014, the Chamber, the RCNA, and the Chamblee Charter School Interact Club cooperated together to clean up a Chamblee cemetery. Subsequently, two other RCNA members joined the Chamber, and in 2015 A.G. Lou Alvarado was elected as the president of the CCC.
Clubs grow by establishing roots in the community, and our association with the CCC is intended to do just that. We are also hoping to grow our club by attracting members from the CCC to joint projects, social functions, and club meetings.
The RCNA and the CCC are tentatively planning to have our first joint social event later in the spring.
Lou Alvarado takes the helm of the Chamblee Chamber of Commerce in 2015.
