Furloughed Workers Food Drive

A local politician reached out to let us know that she had been advised of a food shortage at the local food banks and thought Rotary could quickly respond to the need. The shortage was created due to the Furloughed Federal Workers that had not received paychecks in over a month. We called several other Rotary Clubs (Roswell, North Fulton, Alpharetta) and managed to collect $2000 to purchase food from Costco. Thru Facebook we made a public plea for foods, got a empty space in Johns Creek and invited our Interact students to share in the fun. We collected food from the public on Saturday, January 26th. We manged to collect so much food that we needed 2 large trucks to transport it to Sandy Springs to the Food Bank.

Partner Involvement
